General Information about the Department
Department of Tourism Management, Faculty of Tourism, Anadolu University started education in 2012-2013 academic year. In the Department of Tourism Management, it is aimed to provide students with the knowledge and skills that enable tourism businesses to operate in a competitive environment effectively and efficiently. The content of the courses of Department of Tourism Management has been prepared in a way that enables students to have theoretical knowledge of tourism management, as well as the technical knowledge they will need to find solutions to various business problems they may encounter in tourism businesses.
The Department of Tourism Management has effective theoretical and practical courses to train graduates who are experts in their field. The department, benefiting from the business discipline, has courses such as general economics, behavioral sciences, statistics, public relations, general accounting, human resources management, financial management and general business. In addition to these, there are also courses such as tourism marketing, tourism sociology, hotel management, travel management and tourism economics. The department also has a large number of vocational elective courses so that our students can specialize in different fields. Examples of these are banquet management, entrepreneurship, revenue management, restaurant management, thermal and SPA services, individual nature activities, computerized front office management, housekeeping management, congress and event management. Our students also take compulsory English lessons for eight semesters. There is a compulsory internship practice in our department. Students can start their internships from the end of the second semester. The compulsory internship period is 90 days.

The main purpose of the Tourism Management Department is to train qualified personnel for the tourism sector. The department is a four-year undergraduate program that includes courses in tourism and business administration. A student who successfully graduates from the Department of Tourism Management can find job opportunities in the middle and upper levels of the tourism sector in areas such as accommodation business, food and beverage business, travel business and recreation business. This situation may vary depending on the student's own field of interest. Another alternative is the opportunity to become an academic in the field of tourism due to the fact that the education received during undergraduate education has both a sectoral and academic dimension. In addition, a graduate student of the Tourism Management Department can have employment opportunities in official institutions such as the ministry of culture and tourism, tourism provincial directorates, tourism information offices, and in transportation (air, road and seaway enterprises), travel, accommodation (from five-star hotels to hostels) businesses. In addition, graduate students can also establish their own businesses by using their entrepreneurship skills within the framework of the theoretical and applied knowledge they have acquired.
