Program in French Language Teaching - Ph.D.

General Information about the Program 

The program aims to develop students’/teachers’ competence in French, help students understand the relationship between language cultures, provide them with a comprehensive understanding of language teaching principles, raise the students' awareness about the latest teaching methods and techniques, and thus develop their teaching skills. Therefore, the program aims to train qualified scientists who are creative and can conduct research on the grounds of human rights and ethical values; have internalized the principles of the modern information society.

Currently, there are three professors and four assistant professors in the Program in French Language Teaching.

The graduates of the Ph.D. program are given the diploma of Doctorate in French Language Teaching. This diploma is essentially an admission ticket for teaching in universities. The purpose is to prepare candidates for research careers and teach students how to discover new knowledge within their academic discipline and to develop their ability to use research skills to create original knowledge that contributes to the research and theory in the field of French language teaching. The language of the program is French. Graduates from doctoral programs are certified as Doctor of Philosophy.

French Language Teaching Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) consists of two stages: 1- Taking courses, 2- Thesis. The students must be successful in the courses to proceed to the second stage. To receive a Ph.D. diploma from the field of French foreign language teaching, students must complete the Seminar and Specialized Field Topic courses along with the preparations for writing a thesis and defend their dissertation (written in French) successfully in front of an elected jury.

In addition, students may work in the language-related areas of the private sector; they may be required in all areas where French is necessary, such as translation, international trade, tourism, banking, etc.
