Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies
General Information about the Program
The Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies has been offering an undergraduate program since 2002-2003 academic year. Currently, the department has three professors, two associate professors, three lecturers and one research assistant lecture. The Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Undergraduate Program aims to introduce scientific and instructional perspectives, approaches, ethics, methods and techniques; to determine and investigate current problems in the field; to provide its students with field experience; to design instructions and, lastly, to train teachers, instructional technology experts and instructional material designers, who are capable of teaching in K12 schools and designing instructional materials and activities based on the theoretical knowledge of the field. The program offers rich content about pedagogical theories and applications, educational philosophy, sociology and psychology, foundations of instructional technology, current programming trends and applications, database management, project management, basic electronics and robotics, desktop and web publishing, instructional material design and development, visual design and 3D modelling, multimedia learning, digital game based learning, network, scientific research methods, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and more. A student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 62 courses, not less than 240 ECTS in total, including teaching practice courses; and to have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of this program can be employed as a teacher in schools by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) in Turkey, as an instructional technology expert or/and material designer or software developer in the private sector.
