General Information about the Department
The Department of Fine Arts Education was established in 1985. Currently, the program imparts skills and expertise to students based on the studio practices of graphic design and arts courses. The department has 7 professors, 4 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 3 research assistants aiming at training competent teachers in the field of art teaching. The Program in Arts Education engages students to understand the pedagogical possibilities of visual arts in culture and society. Arts Education program enables students to comprehend the function of arts and arts education at the local and global contexts by a sense of social and ethical responsibility in relation to the society. The program encourages students to concentrate on teacher education, studio practices, histories of art and art education, contemporary art, museum education, technology, multiculturalism and visual culture based on theory and practice relationships.

The program offers the most comprehensive teacher preparation process including subjects for early childhood, elementary and secondary education inspiring research-oriented art education practices for students. The graduates of the Department of Fine Arts Education can work as visual arts teachers at public and private schools affiliated to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Turkey, or as academics in the relevant departments of universities.
