General Information about the Department
The social realities such as shifting from traditional large families to nuclear ones, and the rapid increase in the number of working members in families have made living with families difficult for elderly. Besides, the physiological and psychological changes caused by aging have increased their need for care. Hence, the need for professionals who would work for the well-being of aged population in collaboration with the existing professionals during their hospitalization has increased. Elder people may prefer living at their own place, and hence need professionals that offer home care. Graduates of this program are also equipped with skills required to offer home care
Elderly Care Program aims to train professionals who have knowledge of basic operating principles, processes and management of institutions that offer elderly care, are able to communicate effectively and efficiently with elder people, are able to improve the life quality of elder people, and are equipped with knowledge, skills and values required in elderly care.
Our graduates may start their work life or they may also apply to bachelor's programs in related fields of study provided that they achieve sufficient score in the Vertical Transfer Examination administered by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Centre or may apply to bachelor's degree completion programs in related fields of study in Distance Education System.
Career Opportunities
Our graduates will have the opportunity to be employed by public and private hospitals, social security institutions that are responsible for elderly care, and community dwellings. In accordance with the relevant legislation, graduates of the program have the opportunity for bachelor degree completion by entering the transfer exam.

With the help of the facilities provided by Anadolu University, the aim of Elderly Care Program is to train qualified personnel who have necessary knowledge, skills and values in the field of nursing care and apply and develop the elderly care service in the public, and private institutions. After graduating from this program, our students can be employed in many organizations including Social Services and Child Protection Agency where elderly care services are carried out, hospitals, medical centers, terminal-term care centers, home-care centers, civil society organizations; nursing homes, elderly nursing homes, poorhouse, daycare centers for the elderly, private and voluntary organizations carrying out health care services etc.
