Department of Language and Speech Therapy

We invite you to the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Anadolu University. This is an extremely ideal academic environment for combining coursework with clinical experience in the field of communication disorders.

The Department was established in Turkey for the first time in the Faculty of Health Sciences in 2015. More than 80 percent of the courses are taught by full-time faculty members; 2 professors, 2 associate professors and many young research assistants who will meet you in the Department.

Our program in Speech and Language Therapy at Anadolu University is accredited by SABAK (Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Health Science Education Programs) for 5 years. This accreditation allows our graduates to be officially recognized in national health settings as Speech-Language Therapists.

Our Department offers a wide range of clinical training experiences. Our students can start observing assessment and treatment sessions in off-campus clinics or centers approved by our Department in the third and fourth semesters, at DILKOM (Training, Research and Practice Center for Speech and Language Disorders) in the fifth and sixth semesters, and at various divisions of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Hospital in the final year. Our students also gain experience with clients at DILKOM as they give therapy sessions in a clinical setting before graduation.

DİLKOM has been open to the public since 1999. It is a nationally recognized center at Anadolu University where students receive hands-on experience from academic and clinical experts in the field.

If you are willing to learn a foreign language, you can attend the preparatory school at Anadolu University before starting the BSc program. You can also take advantage of the Erasmus Exchange program and go abroad to take Speech and Language Therapy courses at various universities in Europe. You can join student clubs at the university. Besides, Eskişehir is among the top 10 safest cities in the world. The city will certainly ensure your well-being.

Speech and Language Therapists have no difficulty in finding jobs following graduation. The job prospects include positions in public hospitals and rehabilitation centers. You can also set up a private clinic of your own. If you wish, you can consider applying to our graduate programs (including Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy).

To continue to support our clients and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department has transitioned to a hybrid model including both in-person visits at DİLKOM as well as using telepractice most of the time to provide assessment and treatment sessions in speech and language.

We are waiting for you in our Department. We sincerely hope that it will be your job to help people overcome challenges associated with speech, language, and other communication disorders.
