Department of Physical Education and Sports Doctorate Program
General Information about the Program
During their studies, students have to perform necessary studies on the basis of scientific principles. This program aims to design productive systems and educate qualified people in the field of physical training and sports, to introduce developing facilities of sportive technology and to spread physical training and sports throughout the country. Hence, the students participating in the program are aimed to be the persons who know the structure, function and behavior of human body and know Turkish sport organizations with the ability of comparative evaluations as well as possessing the characteristics of a teacher - trainer. The Doctorate degree requires course works and researches. Students have to take a proficiency exam at the end of courses. Following a successful exam, they have to conduct an original research in the direction of recommendations of their supervisor and prepare a dissertation. After the submission of dissertation, they must defend their completed research against a jury of five experts. Students require about four years beyond the Master's degree to complete a Doctorate (Ph. D.) Program.
Career Opportunities
While working in a private or a public institution, graduates of the doctoral program of the Department of Physical Education and Sports can be appointed to higher-level positions in their field of study if the institutional conditions are favorable. In addition to this, in accordance with the relevant legal regulations, a one-level promotion is applied to those who have completed their doctorate program while working as a public servant. Individuals who do not work in any institution or organization are employed in many institutions to be evaluated in various positions.

There are 11 indoor sports halls open to students' use and a football field with IAAF standards. In addition, many test tools for students' areas of specialization are located in 6 different laboratories.
