General Information about the Department
The Program in Primary School Education and The Program in Preschool Education within the Department of Basic Education were established in the 1998 academic year. The main purpose of the Primary Education Program is to raise pre-service primary school teachers who are equipped in terms of their field and professional knowledge, are sensitive to social and environmental problems, have positive attitudes and behaviors towards children, can think constructively, creatively, critically, open to self-improvement, observe professional ethical principles, and are contemporary and democratic. The education period of the interdisciplinary program, which is based on arts, science and social sciences, is four years. The program includes theoretical and practical field education, teaching professional knowledge and general culture courses and elective courses. In addition, students conduct their practical lessons in institutions affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of National Education. The Primary School Education Program services with 5 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 Lecturer Doctor, and 1 Lecturer and 3 Research Assistants.
Under changing conditions of the world and country the aim of the Preschool Teaching Program is to train qualified pre-school teachers who can be useful to the education system and are open to professional development after four years of theoretical and practical education. Preschool Teaching Program aims to improve the teaching skills of teachers who will provide educational services to children aged 0-6 by providing the necessary theoretical background. Students are provided with a four-year undergraduate education that covers field education, general culture and teaching profession knowledge and skills. The Preschool Education Program services with 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 4 Assistant Professors, and 3 Research Assistants.
In order to successfully complete both programs, it is necessary to complete all the courses available in the program (240 ECTS) and have a minimum grade point average of 2.00/4.00.
Career Opportunities
Students who apply to the Primary Education Program are entitled to receive the Classroom Teacher Bachelor's Diploma if they successfully complete their four-year education and applications. Whose who successfully complete the program can work as classroom teachers in public and private primary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education with the title of "Classroom Teacher".
Graduates of the Preschool Teaching Undergraduate Program can work in kindergartens of primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, independent kindergartens, private kindergartens and private education institutions with children aged 0-6 with the title of "Preschool Teacher".
In addition, students who have successfully completed the Primary School Teaching Undergraduate Program and the Preschool Teaching Undergraduate Program can apply to master's and doctoral programs if they meet the necessary requirements. Anadolu University has master's and doctoral programs within the scope of Preschool Education Program and Primary School Education Program.
