Program in German Language Teaching - Ph.D.

General Information about the Program

The Ph.D. program aims to train academicians in the field of German language education and increase the knowledge, experience, and research skills of individuals who teach German. This program intends to include all kinds of practical and theoretical aspects of the field of study. It aims to furnish well-qualified and innovative individuals with the research methodology background in the area and enable them to produce research concerning scientific integrity to help students gain national and international recognition with the studies conducted in language teaching. There are four professors, one associate professor, and four assistant professors in the Program of German Language Teaching. Graduates from the doctoral program are certified as Doctor of Philosophy.

Career Opportunities

Graduate students of the Ph.D. degree program can work at education and academic institutions besides various state and private sectors and ‘Foreign Affairs and European Union's departments of some Ministries. Graduates find employment in the areas of publishing and media organizations where, for example, they are involved in the compilation and development of teaching materials, or they work in language schools throughout Germany or abroad, in university departments teaching German as a Foreign Language, in institutions of education, or cultural institutions like the Goethe-Institut.
