Program in Primary School Education - Ph.D.

General Information about the Program

The general purpose of the Primary School Education Doctoral Program is to provide students with knowledge, skills and attitudes about classroom teaching at the postgraduate level, and to support them to specialize in the field as well as to do theoretical and applied studies. 11 faculty members work in the program. 5 of these faculty members’ academic titles are Prof. Dr., 3 of them are Assoc. Prof. Dr., 3 of them are Asst. Prof. Dr. Within the scope of the program various courses are given such as teacher training, education of fields, teaching-learning process, research methods and techniques. In order for students with a master's degree to graduate from the program, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS credits, they must have at least 7 courses, a seminar course, a proficiency exam, and provided that not less than 180 ECTS credits for a thesis proposal of, a specialization field course, and a thesis study. Provided that not less than 120 ECTS credits, the students admitted with a bachelor's degree must have at least 14 courses, a seminar course, and proficiency exam, and provided that not less 180 ECTS credits, a thesis proposal, a thesis study with a specialization field course. The students are required to get a letter grade of at least YT, CC or above from all courses taken. In this program, a student's GPA must be at least 3.00 out of 4.00.

Students who graduate from the Primary School Education Doctoral Program can work in the education sector. Graduates can continue their studies in universities in different countries with post-doctoral research scholarship opportunities. In addition, by applying to research assistant positions at state, foundation and private universities, they become academicians and provide educational consultancy to schools.
