General Information about the Department
Economy is basically divided into two sectors. Whereas private sector produces goods and services for personal benefits, public sector makes production of goods and services expected to be used for social benefits. Public Finance is concerned with which human needs are fulfilled by public sector and which are fulfilled by private sector. In this respect, Public Finance is a field of study that deals with what responsibilities the state is supposed to assume, how these responsibilities are fulfilled, and what resources will bear the cost of fulfilling the above mentioned responsibilities and how they will be funded.
The purpose of this department is to train qualified and creative staff to be employed in the fields of budget, financial planning and tax by teaching them the most basic principles of the science of finance. The most basic target of this department is to produce graduates who will be able to interpret the financial events that play a significant role in general economy as well as their effects and consequences related to Public Finance and evaluate the Turkish economy from different perspectives.
Career Opportunities
Graduates have job opportunities in public services and private sector. They can work as a financial inspector, account expert and controller in the public sector; as an expert in the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade and Treasury; as an inspector in public and private banking; and as an independent accountant and financial consultant in the private sector.
